My Signature
Signing your artwork is one of the most important components of any finished work. It is the final mark you will make on that piece; the last time your brush will touch it. Therefore, I knew that when it came to my signature, especially considering the subject of my artwork, I wanted it to mean something truly special.
I create my artwork not only for myself and my personal journey but for countless others who have experienced religious trauma.
My signature needed to be just as universal as the message behind each piece I create. And what is more universal than a black line? We see black lines our whole lives; commonly used to mark where we should write our name.
My signature, the black line, represents a place for others who are on their healing journey to sign their name.
Religious trauma is, unfortunately, a widely shared experience. No matter your religion, race, gender, or class, the pain does not discriminate. Going through your journey to healing from that can be very intense.
Just as discovering my artistic style helped me, I hope it can help someone else as well. Therefore, if you are someone who is in that mending process, when you purchase one of my pieces, whether it be an original painting, a print, or a commission, I invite you to metaphorically sign your name on that black line and see that you are not alone.
